Born into a family of Japanese confectioners, Koichi Izumi was captivated by the Western patisserie and became a renowned pastry chef.
In 2005, he was chosen to represent Japan at the World Chocolate Masters, and in 2006, he led the Japanese team to 2nd place at the World Pastry Team Championship. In 2012, he opened his own pastry shop, called ASTERISQUE, where he brings a new dynamic to Japanese patisserie, marrying respect for tradition with innovation, and revealing the essence of the ingredients.
